A Winter’s Tale Remastered For the 21st Century

At Light Sound Art Film we have carefully restored and remastered A Winter’s Tale for the 21st Century. The film hasn’t been seen for nearly 50 years and even if you saw it back then, you’ve never seen it looking this good!!

Phil Sheppard’s 1974 epic is one of Australia’s greatest surf films ever and features a ridiculous amount of famous surfers of the time: Gerry Lopez, Midget Farrelly, Nat Young, Wayne Lynch, Ben Aipa, Buffalo, Larry Bertlemann, Terry Fitzgerald, Eddie Aikau, Barry Kanaiaupuni, Jeff Hakman, Owl Chapman, Jeff Crawford, Rory Russell, Simon Anderson, Col Smith, Michael Peterson, Sam Hawk, Ian Cairns, Randy Rarrick and many more!

“A Winter’s Tale is the hardcore surfer's Morning of The Earth” - Nick Carroll

The film is up on Vimeo where it can be bought or rented. All the money from sales is split 50/50 with the filmmakers and helps support The Surf Film Archive.

So get on over to Vimeo and rent or buy A Winter’s Tale. Treat yourself to some of the best 70s surfing you have ever seen, and help us to continue finding, scanning and restoring these incredible pieces of Australian history!

We will also be holding another fundraiser soon, we are approaching our third year of the archive, we’ve gotten this far we hope we can keep going!

You can purchase the film here.
