Surf films. back on the BIG screen!

What an amazing night we had last Saturday at the Byron Theatre. A full house came to see Murray Patterson and Headland bring the rescanned Surf Film Archive images to life. It really was something special. Big warm-hearted energy filled the room and people left with massive smiles and huge stoke. Us included!

Now we can’t wait to tour. Want us to come to your area? Please let us know. The band is seven strong and we want to keep the ticket prices reasonable. If you know a surf-lover with a motel or AirB&B who could help accomodate the musicians it would go a long way to getting us there! Thanks to founding supporter Kim Burton we already have an offer in Newcastle and we’d like to put a few dates together!

Thanks to those who supported the raffle

  • Simon Jones & Morning of the Earth Surfboards for the 1st prize surfboard! The drawing of which started a live auction in the theatre.

  • Need Essentials for 2nd prize, a Vulex steamer wetsuit, won by Mike Vanderfield.

  • and Headland for the 3rd place Vinyl.

Thanks also to

the Byron Theatre team, Hamish and Kade at The Surf Film Archive, Filmmakers Dick Hoole and Phil Sheppard for sharing their remarkable and historic footage, magnificent Murray Patterson and the whole Headland band, Stone & Wood for providing beers for the band on the night, Diana Prichard from WORDSwork/ARTworks for writing our press release, Nell Schofield for welcoming her on our radio show, and everyone who came and shared their good vibes.

Seeing Australia’s golden era of surfing from the 1960’S and 1970’S by Bob Evans, Andy McAlpine, Phil Sheppard and others was Freaking incredible, with live music 🎵 by Headland who stole the show ….. Unbelievable! Surf films on the BIG screen are back!
