David Sams, Trevor Elms and Alan Gourley rented a house right on the point at Waimea Bay in 1966.

David recalls ‘In retrospect it was definitely one of the best times of our lives with no responsibilities, surfing every day in mostly uncrowded conditions and getting some of our best (and biggest) waves.’
